The Buffalo Bills are considering a blockbuster trade for Tampa Bay Buccaneers nose tackle Vita Vea to address their struggling run defense.
The Bills ranked 28th in rushing defense last season, allowing 136 yards per game, and finished 12-5 but failed to win their division.
They are currently 15th in the American Football Conference with a 3-14 record and on a L5 streak.
Vea is a dominant run stuffer and recorded 34 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season, and is a two-time Pro Bowler.
He is entering the final year of his four-year, $71 million deal and is currently holding in, wanting a new deal.
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Vea's hold-in is not concerning, and that he is just bringing him in late, with Vea attending minicamp but not physically participating.
The Bills will open their 2026 NFL season on the road on Sept. 13 against the Houston Texans.
The team has overhauled its defense this offseason, with Jim Leonhard as the new defensive coordinator, and is changing to a 3-4 defense.
New pass rusher Bradley Chubb said the goal of the defense is to be as aggressive as possible.
The Bills are eager to improve their run defense, and a trade for Vea could be the solution they need.
